Fishing

Hire of the cabin includes the right to fish on a designated part of Loch-Awe shoreline and there’s also access to the shore to launch your own boat. Full fishing permits covering the entire loch cost only £3 daily and can be obtained locally as can fishing boats and outboard motors.
The area has some superb opportunities for the angler. Whether it’s freshwater or sea fishing, the area has easy access to an abundance of angling opportunities. Mighty Loch Awe is right on your doorstep at about 2 minutes walk from your cabin. This is the Loch where the British record Brown trout has been caught and the record broken here on two occasions recently.
• In 1996 the British Record was broken was taken in Loch Awe with a Brown Trout of 25lb 5 oz.
• Loch Awe produced again when this was smashed on 13th July 2000 with a new British record Brown Trout of 30lb 8 oz.
• Loch Awe did it again ! On opening day (15th March 2002) the record was broken with a Brown Trout of 31lb 12 oz.
Many anglers believe it will not belong before a 40lb Brown Trout is taken from the Loch …. They’re out there to be caught!

The loch is also a pilgrimage for those who seek to catch monster pike. In addition to Salmon, some sea-trout and brown trout, the loch also contains artic char, perch and rainbow trout.
Boats and Outboards can be hired locally in the village from Norman Clark of Lochaweside Marina. This includes boats for fishing or just for fun and exploration of the loch’s many secluded bays and beaches.
There is also an abundance of hill lochs and rivers to fish.
