Munro Bagging


The following gives a description of the Munros easily accessible in the area. Munros are
defined as separate mountains over 3000 feet in Scotland.
There are around 4 within 30- 45minutes drive of Dalavich and a further 16 within just
over 1 hours drive. If this isn’t enough for you, there’s many more at a further 30 minutes
drive away.

The Cruachan Hills
Only 45 minutes drive away, the 4 closest munros are:

Mountain: Ben Cruachan Mountain: Stob Diamh
Pronounced: Ben Kroo-achan Pronounced: Stop Dyv
Translation: Stacky Hill Translation: Stag's Peak
Height: 3694ft/1126m Height: 3274ft/998m
Climbing time is approximately 5 to 8 hrs. Access point is the Falls of Cruachan.
 
Mountain: Beinn a’Chochuill Mountain: Beinn Eunaich
Pronounced: Ben Cho-Chil Pronounced: Ben Ayneech
Translation: Hill of the Hood Translation: Fowling Hill
Height: 3215ft/980m Height: 3245ft/989m
Climbing time is approximately 5 to 8 hrs. Access point is Drishaig.


Bridge of Orchy Hills

A one hour and 15 minute drive away is the Bridge of Orchy and the following 5 munros,
all of which are easily accessed from thi point.

Mountain: Beinn Dorain Mountain: Beinn An Dothaidh
Pronounced: Ben Doa-ran Pronounced: Ben Daw-ee
Translation: Hill of the Otter Translation: Scorching Hill
Height: 3530ft/1076m Height: 3287ft/1002m
Time to climb both of these is approximately between 5 and 7 hours. The access point is Bridge of Orchy Station.
 
Mountain: Beinn Achaladair Mountain: Beinn a’Chreachain
Pronounced: Ben Achalatur Pronounced: Ben a Chrechan
Translation: Field of Hard Water Translation: Hill of the Clamshell
Height: 3409ft/1039m Height: 3547ft/1081m
To climb both of these would take approximately 6 to 8 hours and the access point
for them is the Achallader Farm car park.
 
Mountain: Beinn Mhanach    
Pronounced: Ben Vanach    
Translation: Monk Hill    
Height: 3130ft/954m    
Climbing time is approximately 5 to 8 hrs and access is from the A82 near Auch.


The Crianlarich Hills

The area around Crianlarich, again about one hour and 15 minutes drive from Dalavich has 7 peaks to choose from.

Mountain: Beinn Chabhair    
Pronounced: Ben Chavar    
Translation: Hill of the Hawk    
Height: 3061ft/933m    
Climbing time is approximately 4 to 5 hours and the access point is Beinglas.
 
Mountain: An Caisteal Mountain: Beinn a’Chroin
Pronounced: An Castail Pronounced: Ben a Kroin
Translation: The Castle Translation: Hill of Danger
Height: 3264ft/995m Height: 3084ft/940m
To climb both of these would take approximately 4 to 6 hours. The access point
is Glen Falloch.
 
Mountain: Cruach Ardrain Mountain: Beinn Tulaichean
Pronounced: Kroo-ach Ardrain Pronounced: Ben Too-leach-an
Translation: Stack of the High Part Translation: Hill of Hillocks
Height: 3431ft/1046m Height: 3104ft/946m
The approximate time to climb both of these is 5 to 7 hours. Access is just south
of Crianlarich on the A82.
